Customs

Custom orders are currently closed. Custom orders open on a quarterly basis and I can only take a limited amount of requests at a time. Please join the mailing list for updates on when customs open again!

How it works!

Important things to know: Custom projects start at $2,000 USD. Most projects tend to range around $2,500-$3,000. A $150 non refundable custom design deposit is required to start, which will be credited back to you in the final cost of your piece. Prompt and timely communication is expected and will be reciprocated during all phases of a custom project. Please sign up for the email list above to be notified of custom openings.

Step 1: Initial inquiry. When customs open you will receive a heads up email with the exact time a google form will be posted on this page the next morning. The form will ask for the most important information I need to get started including your ring size, location and all your hopes and dreams for your custom piece. If I think your project is a good fit for me, I’ll send an invoice for a non-refundable $150 custom design deposit via email. Custom slots fill on a first come, first serve basis.

Step 2: Design. In your custom inquiry, please be clear about what you're hoping to have made including any engraving details. If you're unsure, you can give me a couple ideas to work with, but please be as specific as possible. After the custom design deposit is paid I can start sketching for you! It typically takes about a week of back and forth communication to land on a final sketch that we are both happy with. Prompt and timely communication is important during this time. If we are working on a ring I will need your ring size before I'm able to give you a final quote.

Step 3: Production. After we land on a final design, I’ll send an invoice for 50% of the final cost to get started. Production time can take anywhere from 8-12 weeks depending on the complexity of the piece. I cannot accommodate rush orders for custom projects. Your piece will be lovingly made in my Santa Fe studio. Because I try to open customs quarterly, your piece will be finished within 3 months of inquiry.

Step 4: Shipping. Your remaining balance will be due upon completion. I ship with insured Fedex 2 day shipping within the united states. All packages will require a signature delivery, no exceptions. For international orders, I ship with Fedex only. The full description and price of the item will be listed on customs forms.

Custom FAQ!

Blue Blue Driver is heirloom quality fine jewelry. I specialize in custom hand-engraved signet rings, each one unique, made by hand, made to last a lifetime and beyond!

What goes into custom order pricing?

Each piece is made to order by hand. I work in solid sterling silver or gold, never plated or vermeil. My pricing structure is based on design time, cost of materials, labor, overhead, expertise and experience. Custom orders start at $2,000 and go up from there. Prices can range quite a bit depending on the style of the ring, ring size, and the complexity of the engraving or stonesetting work. A small ring with a simple engraved design will be around $2,000. More elaborate designs or chunky rings increase the price quite a bit. Some of the most elaborate pieces I've made have cost anywhere from $3,500 to $6,500. I usually ask for 2 payments. One up front and the second upon completion, but happy to offer flexible payment plans based on your needs. I'm working on a pricing guide for all my ring styles and will post it here as soon as I'm able!

What metals do you work in?

I usually work with 14k or 18k white, yellow or rose gold. I do not offer custom orders in silver and I don't work in platinum at the moment.

Can you engrave on my vintage jewelry:

Currently I do not accept client supplied jewelry for engraving.

Can we use a stone I already have?

I’m happy to incorporate customer stones on a case by case basis. I will need to see the stones in person and under a microscope before making a decision.

Can you melt and reuse my heirloom gold?

At this time I’m unable to melt down any client supplied gold for reuse.

Do you take third party custom orders?

No, currently I do not accept custom orders through any jewelry or retail business.

***I reserve the right to decline custom requests if they are not a good fit for me, or cancel custom orders if I find there is a lack of communication or boundaries are pushed.
